“I wanted to optimize the access of housing credits”.

Zona Compradores would make it easier for clients to obtain home credit, however, this Ux case is made more difficult because customers are unsure of which bank option would be best for them based on their financial data.

Overview

Zona Compradores is a Colombian premier real-estate portal, however, its interaction methods and design appear antiquated in comparison to its competitors, and some aspects of its user experience are unpolished.

A full revamp was long necessary, and it will ensure Zona Compradores' long-term competitiveness.

With the UX team, we set out to establish online user-friendly real-state procedures and a brand-new design system to ensure Zona Compradores has best-in-class usability and aesthetics throughout the website.

I helped leading the project and worked on all aspects of the new design system, including its UI visuals, UX interactions and testing. I also revamped the UX of key pages while my developer colleagues helped implement my designs.

Empathize - User & Personas

With the UX team, I performed video interviews with ten users to gain a thorough insight of their present conditions, habits, familiarity with house buying, and any challenges they may have.

Based on the data gathered from these interviews, I created, with the UX team, the following three User Personas, summarizing an overall profile of potential users and their needs, which we might cover.

Define - How might we?

Based on our User Personas, for the definition phase, the UX team, product, development, and stakeholders analyzed all the data based on their principal challenges and concerns. We use the How Might We questions to provide an approach and transform all the setbacks into opportunities and get easily to the next phase: Ideate solutions.

Ideate - The answer

With concrete HMW questions from the definition phase, we implemented a brainstorming technique in our ideation phase to generate concrete ideas for designing solutions oriented to solving those questions. The results were from concrete processes to new products and services related to the project.

Prototyping - The possible MVP

We gathered as many good and awful ideas as we could, and then we narrowed it down to the ones that directly addressed the wants and annoyances of our users. Then, we drew designs of our MVP platform that included every suggestion. These drawings evolved into wireframes, which were arranged to form a storyboard that showed the direction to take.

Testing - The final MVP

The LO-FI prototypes will be turned into HI-FI prototypes and, with these new mockups, I prepared tests with somes users, and with the dev team we prepared a live demo to track movements and behaviors using HOTJAR.

Results and impact

Compared with the previous wireframes of the platform, the newly designed platform Zona Compradores increased the accuracy of tracking customers' current state in their process of purchasing a house by 12%.

This was the first time I worked a project with different paths. I was nervous at the beginning, but I soon learnt to trust my team-mates and learnt that active communication and short daily stand-up meetings were key to ensuring the project’s success.

This Zona Compradores validated our hypothesis that the most effective value proposition is one that is centered around a person’s core motivation. I’m looking forward to enhancing the current usability paths established and applying the same approach to other key pages of the new platform.
